Apathy

I. Training Objective: To outline how apathy strikes and how to deal with it.

II. Definition of Apathy: Not caring in actions or attitudes. "We have arrived" attitude.

III. Area it strikes:

A. Devotions: your time with the Lord is inconsistent.
B. Witnessing: you don't care whether people go to Heaven or Hell.
C. Serving: pride gets in the way of service.
D. Attendance: irregular.
E. Confrontation: "Who am I to say?"; "Someone else will do it". Failure responding to authority.
F. Encouragement of others: lacking!

IV. Results:

A. Thanklessness
B. Depression, No joy-Proverbs 15:13
C. Loss of love for others.
D. Self-Centeredness - Philippians 2:3-4
E. Spiritual dryness - John 7:37-38
F. No fruit/poor prayer - John 15:7-8

V. Solutions to defeat apathy:

A. Be available - Isaiah 6:8 / Matthew 28:19-20
B. Have Compassion-Matthew 9:36-38
C. Care about other's needs.-Galatians 6:1-3
D. Give of yourself (serve)-Colossians 1:28-29
E. Acquire the burden of Christ-John 13:3-15
F. Get a physical check up from a doctor.

VI. Conclusion: Ask Jesus for a burden for people.
